Charity Health Checkup for the Group with Physical and Mental Disabilities
November 6 – November 8, United Foundation for China’s Health (UFCH) organized United Family Healthcare medical volunteers to visit Liming Functional Rehabilitation Center (Liming Family) located in Ningjin County, Xingtai City, Hebei Province for a three-day visit and health examination.
Liming Functional Rehabilitation Center provides charity services for people with physical and mental disabilities since 1988. During this visit, UFCH invited Dr Chang Pengfei, from Beijing United Family Hospital, and Yao Fangchao, from Tianjin United Family Hospital, to provide health examinations for disabled people and charity workers.
Physical and mental disorders bring challenges, but at the Liming Rehab Center kids are well-loved and get good care. Here they can also create value in their work and lead a dignified life.
The doctors patiently took medical histories and did checkups for the patients and staff of the center, and provided recommendations for treatment. During the visit, UFCH also organized a women’s health talk to provide education on breast cancer and cervical cancer prevention to female workers and helped them improve their awareness of health protection.
Subsequently, UFCH visited Ningjin County Hostpital and Gaoyi County Rehabilitation Station （Rehabilitation Station）. There are many children with physical and mental disabilities who undergo rehabilitation training here. The doctors provided health examination and medical consultation to the workers and some children accompanied by their parents. Here, we met a 3-year-old boy who suffers from a congenital hearing impairment. The doctor said that early treatment would be conducive to the acquisition of language, which is also related to the child’s future physical and mental development. UFCH will keep in touch with the institution so that the child can get treatment as soon as possible.
After the examination, UFCH has arranged for five beneficiaries to go to Beijing United Family Hospital Surgery Department, Neurosurgery Department, and Tianjin United Family Hospital Family Medicine Center for further medical consultation and treatment.
