UFCH Earned Its Spot as an AAAA Charity Organization.
Recently, the Beijing Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau released the “Announcement of the Assessment Results of Beijing Municipal Social Organizations in 2021”, and the United Foundation for China’s Health (UFCH) was rated as a 4A-level social organization in Beijing.
At the end of 2021, the Beijing Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau entrusted a professional assessment agency to carry out assessments on 314 municipal social organizations, among which there were 94 foundations rated at the 4A level, and the UFCH was in the list.

On the day of the assessment, a group of experts conducted a comprehensive inspection on UFCH, including basic conditions, internal governance, party building, compliance with regulations and laws, and on-site interviews. At the same time, a further understanding of the foundation’s work was gained through inspections such as random checks of telephone interviews with the beneficiary groups. Through the first assessment, the experts gave a higher evaluation to UFCH. The 4A rating is an affirmation of the medical charity work of the foundation and United Family Healthcare in the past dozen years, and also marks that the construction and development of UFCH has stepped onto a new level.

In one day in 2000, Ms. Roberta Lipson, the founder of United Family Healthcare (UFH), and several doctors from Beijing United Family Hospital (BJU) visited a welfare home in Jiaozuo, Henan. There, they found that a large portion of children suffered from congenital diseases, severe illnesses, or disabilities. These children need to undergo multiple surgeries or long-term rehabilitation treatments to reach a relatively stable physical condition. Therefore, Ms. Roberta Lipson hoped to establish a medical charity foundation under the Beijing Civil Affairs Bureau and help more disadvantaged people in need through the charity organization platform.
The original intention of the foundation’s establishment is to help the disadvantaged children in the welfare home when they are seeking medical treatment, can also make their medical process smooth by enjoying high-quality medical services. At the same time, UFCH takes humanity, responsibility, and the inheritance of high-quality medical services as its purpose, builds a charity platform in the field of medical and health, widely carries out helping the vulnerable groups and related publicity and popular science of health knowledge, and strives to develop and improve China’s social assistance mechanism. United Family Healthcare and its hospitals have become one of the largest backing of the foundation.
In the past few decades, United Family Hospital has insisted on fulfilling its social responsibilities and continuously provided charity outpatient services, emergency services, large-scale surgical treatments, and continuous medical services for follow-up visits after surgery for the children of the foundation, making full use of limited medical resources to assist the foundation in improving the quality of life of the assisted groups and allowing them to return to normal life.

Medical needs of the people in medical predicaments are complex and long, but UFCH insists on regularly organizing the medical staff of United Family Hospitals to go out of the hospital and into the community, so that more people in difficult can have the opportunity and channel to receive precise medical care. From vaccine injections, nutritional support to outpatient treatment and various inpatient surgeries, from one child, one welfare home to the scope of rescue covering more than 50 social organizations, non-governmental organizations and other across the country, UFCH has invested more and more medical resources, and the medical volunteer team has gradually become stronger. Medical Empowerment and Improve Relief Efficiency
In response to the call of the President Xi for poverty alleviation, since 2017, UFCH has begun to explore the sustainable model of innovative medical relief to enhance the ability and efficiency of medical relief. It provides charity medical training to help improve the medical service capacity in rural areas, and is also committed to reaching the “last mile” of medical poverty alleviation.

As an extension of the Child’s Care and Wheel for Life programs, UFCH has cooperated with social organizations across the country to carry out the medical aid empowerment program. With the help of UFH resources, the Foundation has helped social workers working in the front line in various regions to popularize the knowledge and practice in the field of health care, and implemented the spirit of the 19th National Congress. In 2018, based on social needs, UFCH also launched the AHA First Aid and resuscitation basic skills training program. The Mobile Clinic has become the ” heart” of UFCH. Since its inception in November 2015, under the leadership of the Foundation team, UFH medical team have traveled more than 100,000 kilometers in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia and Yunnan to reach the “last mile” of high-quality medical services for needy groups. In recent years, UFCH has actively cooperated with local health committees to drive mobile clinic into rural areas to provide free HPV and breast cancer screening for local women. We use innovative models to care for women’s health and help the high-quality development of Chinese families. As of today, the number of charity screening provided by the Foundation has exceeded 13,000.

At the same time, in the face of public health events and natural disasters in the past two years, UFH has fully supported the UFCH by contributing limited medical resources and materials, so the foundation has never been absent in the face of major disasters and actively participated in disaster relief. At the same time, UFH assists the UFCH by timely funding the green channel of online consultation service in Internet hospitals, helping foundation employees to go to the front line to provide remote medical consultation services for the affected people in the disaster areas and epidemic areas in the first time.
